It’s hip to be square, and even more hip to go 3D. In Super Cube Shuffle, kids flip red and white cubes to match a pattern. Most of the cubes’ faces are all red or all white, so matching full squares in the pattern doesn’t take much spin. But 2 faces of each cube have a red triangle paired with a white triangle. Lining those up to make diagonal stripes and pinwheels really pushes our rotational geometry skills!
Here at Crazy 8s, we’re big believers in practicing spatial thinking. Shapes and numbers – basically geometry and algebra – live in different parts of our brains. A Stanford study using MRIs of kids’ brains showed that kids with more connections between these brain regions were better at math 6 years later than the kids without those connections.
